JPL In 2003, NASA plans to launch a relative of the
now-famous 1997 Mars Pathfinder rover. Using drop, bounce and
roll technology, this larger cousin is expected to reach the
surface of the red planet in January 2004 and begin the longest
journey of scientific exploration ever undertaken across the
surface of that alien world. Find out information about this
and more here.

Air and Space Museum The Smithsonian Institution's National
Air and Space Museum (NASM) maintains the largest collection
of historic air and spacecraft in the world. It is also a vital
center for research into the history, science, and technology
of aviation and space flight. Located on the National Mall in
Washington, D.C., the Museum has hundreds of artifacts on display
including the original Wright 1903 Flyer, the "Spirit of St.
Louis," Apollo 11 command module, and a Lunar rock sample that
visitors can touch. The museum continues to develop new exhibits
to examine the impact of air and space technology on science
and society.

Goddard Space Flight Center THE MISSION of the Goddard
Space Flight Center is to expand knowledge of the Earth and
its environment, the solar system and the universe through
observations from space. To assure that our nation maintains
leadership in this endeavor, we are committed to excellence
in scientific investigation, in the development and operation
of space systems and in the advancement of essential technologies.
In pursuit of this challenge, the Center will: Conduct a preeminent
program of research in the space and Earth science disciplines
using measurements from space complemented by suborbital,
ground-based and laboratory measurements and by theoretical
investigations; Develop and operate a broad spectrum of flight
missions that are responsive to the needs of the science community;
Provide and operate spaceflight tracking and data acquisition
networks; Develop innovative technology and instruments critical
to the success of our mission; Develop and maintain advanced
information systems for the display, analysis, archiving and
distribution of space and Earth science data; and Develop
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellite
systems that provide environmental data for forecasting and
research.

Johnson Space Center JSC was established in September
1961 as NASA's primary center for design, development testing
of spacecraft and associated systems for human flight, selection
and training of astronauts, planning and conducting human space
flight missions, and extensive participation in the medical, engineering
scientific experiments carried aboard space flights. Lyndon B.
Johnson Space Center is adjacent to Clear Lake at 2101 NASA Road
1, about 20 miles southeast of downtown Houston via Interstate
45. Maps to Johnson Space Center are available online. Additional
facilities are located at nearby Ellington Field, seven miles
north of the center.
